Press Releases » A Shidduch between SawYouAtSinai and Neve Yerushalayim- continues SYAS’s push to partner with elite institutions

Neve Yerushalayim, The College for Jewish Women’s Studies, has partnered with Jewish Matchmaking service SawYouAtSinai.com to create ‘NeveKesher.org’, a dating site exclusively for Neve Yerushalayim students and alumnae. Since the seminary opened in Jerusalem in 1970, it has had over 1,000 women attending each year, and has branches in Israel, Britain, and the USA. NeveKesher allows the Neve institutions to expand their alumnae services by assisting them with their dating, even when the women are no longer attending the school, or even in the same country as their teachers.

NeveKesher.org will be interconnected with the expansive SawYouAtSinai database, allowing matches across the two sites. The service has also recruited matchmakers who are connected with Neve; either women that are alumnae themselves, have a child who is an alumna, or have already become involved with Neve in other ways. This enables the singles and the matchmakers to relate to each other more effectively.

Mrs. Varda Berkovitz, the Neve Kesher Matchmaking Coordinator, was integral in setting up the site and has recruited well-respected matchmakers such as Rebbetzin Anna Vorhand, Mrs. Zelda Cutler, and Mrs. Kim (Davis) Solomon. The service also offers the singles personalized feedback from a team of mentors; helping members navigate the site, advise them on dating experiences, and guide them on how to improve their profiles- mentors Rebbetzin. Hillary Kahn and Rebbetzin Tziporah Eisemann have been brought on board for this purpose.

"Mentors are available, should the women desire, to assist them in any and all parts of the dating process,” explains Rebbetzin Eisemann. “The mentor could be very involved or almost uninvolved as they choose. She can help introduce the women to shadchanim, help them sift through and research suggestions, and in general be an advocate for each woman as she navigates her way to marriage.”

“In addition to the detailed member profiles that are available to our shadchanim,” Mrs. Berkovitz remarks, “we will continue to focus on face to face interviewing of the singles. The key component is still the relationship that the matchmakers have with the singles but the SYAS system organizes, facilitates and significantly expedites the matching process. Shadchanim are not wasting time on administrative activities thereby significantly improving our matchmakers’ productivity.”

Rebbetzin Vorhand, explained enthusiastically, “Helping to create new Jewish families in a comfortable, dignified way is our first priority, and our partnership with SawYouAtSinai will help us accomplish this mitzvah more often.”
